Shohei Ohtani Critical Of Team's Season Performance
Shohei Ohtani said Tuesday that he was pleased with his personal success in 2022 but had, "a rather negative impression of this season," from a team perspective, per AP News' Koji Ueda. His sentiment is warranted, as the Angels endured a seventh consecutive losing season and missed the playoffs for an eighth consecutive season. Ohtani himself was a fantasy stud once again, compiling a 15-9 record with a 2.33 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 33.2% strikeout rate in 28 starts while also posting a .273/.356/.519 slash line with 34 home runs, 95 RBI, and 11 stolen bases. Ohtani has one year left on his contract with the Angels, and they will clearly need to add more support besides himself and outfielder Mike Trout if they hope to be more competitive in 2023.

Shohei Ohtani Sets The Tone With Leadoff Homer
Shohei Ohtani got his team off to a strong start against the Athletics by taking the third pitch he saw from rookie Gunnar Hogland into the right field bleachers. He finished the night 2-for-4 with an intentional walk, two runs scored, and an RBI. Ohtani has five home runs in his last nine games and seven in his last 14. He is hitting .307 on the season after hitting .351 over his last nine games with a .541 ISO, a .540 wOBA, and 10 barrels during that nine-game stretch. Ohtani is on pace for 49 homers and 38 stolen bases in an impressive follow-up to his historic 2024. He remains an elite producer in all fantasy formats.

Shohei Ohtani Completes Up-Down Bullpen Session
Shohei Ohtani (elbow) completed his first up-down bullpen session on Saturday. This was a significant step in his recovery process as Ohtani has yet to simulate a break between innings during his previous sessions. The right-hander is working his way back from Tommy John surgery. During the entire 2024 season, Ohtani was only able to see time as a DH, but that did not slow him down as he ran away with the NL MVP Award and established the 50/50 club. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Ohtani's progression as the 30-year-old could be cleared to begin facing live hitters. However, given his slow progress, fantasy managers should not expect him back on the mound for at least a few months. However, while he remains a DH, fantasy managers should continue to view him as a high-end fantasy asset in all formats. Through 38 games this season, Ohtani has held a .305/.410/.649 line with 12 home runs and 10 stolen bases.

Shohei Ohtani Smacks Three Extra-Base Hits
Shohei Ohtani stayed hot on Friday, going 3-for-6 with a homer and two doubles in a 14-11 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ohtani scored in the first frame, drove in one in the second, and then smashed a go-ahead three-run bomb in the ninth. The three-time MVP has been on fire lately, going 20-for-46 with six homers, 12 RBI, and five steals since April 26. That brings his season-long numbers up to a .304 AVG, 43 runs, 12 homers, 20 RBI, and 10 steals. Those who were worried about Ohtani in late April probably feel a little silly now, as he is once again performing like one of the best players in baseball, both in real life and in fantasy.

Shohei Ohtani Homers In Second Consecutive Game Tuesday
Shohei Ohtani continued his solid offensive season in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Marlins. Ohtani went 2-for-5 with a double, a solo home run, two RBI, and two strikeouts. The 30-year-old obliterated a sixth-inning Anthony Veneziano breaking pitch, launching it into the second deck in right field to tie the game. Ohtani has homered in back-to-back games and has 10 on the season to go with a .296/.399/.607 slash line, 38 runs scored, 15 RBI, and 10 stolen bases in 158 plate appearances. He has continued to be one of fantasy's best hitters.
