Shogun Rua Drops Main-Card Opener Saturday
4 years agoShogun Rua was unsuccessful in his bid to pull off the victory over Paul Craig on Saturday in a bout that was a rematch from a previous draw result between the two fighters. Rua landed only 10 significant strikes (25 total strikes) in less than seven minutes of action. Craig was able to keep control of Rua on the mat for the majority of the contest. Rua did stop half of Craig's takedown attempts but was still taken down four times in about seven minutes. At 38 years old and after just completing his 40th professional MMA bout, we have to wonder how much more Rua has left in the tank. He was ranked 14th and just lost to the 15th-ranked UFC light heavyweight. With Rua set to drop from the rankings, how much longer will he want to continue?
