Shea Langeliers Launches Second Long Ball Of The Season
6 days agoAthletics catcher Shea Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a two-run blast during their loss to the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday evening. Langeliers hit a single in his first at-bat off Chicago southpaw Justin Steele. Then in the third inning, Langeliers would take Steele deep with a two-run blast, which scored Brent Rooker. Since going 0-for-3 on Opening Day, Langeliers has posted a solid .267/.353/.667 slash line with two home runs, five RBI, and a 2:2 BB:K over his previous four games. Last summer, Langeliers enjoyed a career year as he went deep 29 times and held a .224/.288/.450 slash line. The 27-year-old generated a strong 12.8 percent barrel rate with a .456 xSLG. Even though he does not draw walks often, his elite power upside gives him significant value in all formats, especially at the catcher position. He will look to stay hot on Wednesday, facing Chicago right-hander Jameson Taillon.

Shea Langeliers Sitting On Sunday
1 week agoAthletics catcher Shea Langeliers is not in Sunday's starting lineup when the Athletics conclude their opening series against the Seattle Mariners. Langeliers started behind the dish in each of the first three contests and went 2-for-11 with a home run, three RBI, and a 1:3 BB:K. As a result, Jhonny Pereda will get the nod behind the dish and bat eighth. Fantasy managers should expect Langeliers to return to the starting lineup on Monday evening when they host the Chicago Cubs. Last season, Langeliers enjoyed a career season as he went deep 29 times and added 80 RBI. He posted a .224/.288/.450 slash line. He generated an elite 12.8 percent barrel rate but posted a high 27.2 percent strikeout rate. Fantasy managers should continue to view Langeliers as a solid No. 1 catcher in all formats.

Shea Langeliers Hits Two More Homers Tuesday
7 months agoOakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers continued to flex his muscles in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Cubs. Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a two-run HR. The 26-year-old drilled a first-inning Jordan Wicks fastball into the left-center seats to plate two and got Wicks again deep to left field in the fifth inning. Langeliers has provided expected fantasy value this season, slashing .220/.280/.448 with 28 HR, 54 runs scored, 74 RBI, and four stolen bases in 500 plate appearances. He won't help fantasy managers in batting average, but catcher is such a weak position that Langeliers' power contributions make up for it.

Shea Langeliers Homers Twice, Including Walk-Off
7 months agoOakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers played the hero in Monday's 5-4 win over the Mariners. Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a solo walk-off HR, and a strikeout. The 26-year-old crushed a third-inning Logan Gilbert hanging slider into the left-field seats to put the A's up 4-3. He later took the game into his own hands, drilling a ninth-inning Austin Voth breaking pitch deep down the left-field line to end the game. Langeliers has provided plenty of power throughout the season, but he has hit better overall in the second half, slashing .248/.333/.496 with eight HR and 18 RBI in 125 at-bats. Catcher is a shallow fantasy position, so fantasy managers will take any production. Langeliers could be a key player down the stretch if he can provide power and some batting average.

Jacob Wilson, Shea Langeliers Out Against Reds
7 months agoOakland Athletics rookie shortstop Jacob Wilson and catcher Shea Langeliers are sitting out of Thursday's contest against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Nick Allen will get the nod at shortstop for the A's and will hit in the nine-hole, while Kyle McCann will do the catching for rookie right-hander J.T. Ginn in his first big-league start against Reds right-hander Julian Aguiar. Wilson will get a day off after recently returning from the injured list due to a hamstring strain. The 22-year-old has gone 1-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored in his second and third big-league games this week. The team's top prospect will get the rest of the season as the club's starting shortstop and is worth rostering in most fantasy leagues. Langeliers needs one homer to set a new career-high in that category with 23 in his second full MLB season.
