Shea Langeliers Expected To Be Promoted This Year
2 years agoOakland Athletics general manager David Forst said that catching prospect Shea Langeliers is expected to be promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas before the end of the season. Langeliers is the team's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he's currently hitting .281/.362/.513 with an .876 OPS, 19 home runs, 53 RBI, 57 runs scored and five stolen bases in 381 plate appearances and 87 games at Las Vegas. In a lost season, it makes sense for the A's to give the 24-year-old a taste of major league pitching to close out the year. Oakland also has Sean Murphy at the position at the big-league level, but he's a candidate to be traded in the offseason if they believe Langeliers is ready for a full-time role in 2023. When Langeliers is called up, he's worth a roster spot in deeper leagues.
