Shane McClanahan Seeking Second Opinion On Forearm Issue
1 year agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Shane McClanahan (forearm, elbow) is flying to Los Angeles, California, on Sunday for an appointment with Dr. Neal Elattrache, who is one of "several specialists" that the 26-year-old is seeing in order to "determine cause/severity/treatment of [his] forearm tightness," according to beat writer Marc Topkin. Well, this doesn't sound like good news. McClanahan was placed on the 15-day injured list on Thursday with the elbow/forearm issue, which is always scary for a pitcher. We should know more towards the middle of next week after he meets with team of doctors, but fantasy managers should expect the All-Star hurler to be out for quite a while, as the Rays will be cautious with their ace. McClanahan owns a 3.29 ERA, 1.183 WHIP, and 121:41 K/BB over 115 innings (21 starts).
