Shane Bieber Looks Good Sunday Against Diamondbacks
5 years agoCleveland Indians starting pitcher Shane Bieber was sharp in his start Sunday against the Diamondbacks. He tossed 2 2/3 innings, striking out two and did not allow a hit. Bieber is looking to build upon the success he had last season in which he went 15-8 with a 3.28 ERA. He deploys a four-pitch mix with excellent control, changing speeds and eye levels with efficiency. His hard-hit rate and average exit velocity are concerning, however. The higher average exit velocity was responsible for 31 home runs given up in 214 1/3 innings. He is likely to be drafted as an ace, but beware that there is some risk. With his excellent level of control over all of his pitches, he should produce that of an elite level starter as long as he can limit his hard-hit rate.
