42 seconds agoThe Miami Marlins have designated right-handed pitcher Seth Martinez for assignment. In a corresponding move, the team claimed right-handed pitcher Brett de Geus off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Marlins claimed Martinez off waivers earlier this week. Martinez has spent his entire MLB career with the Houston Astros. Last season, the 30-year-old posted a 3.59 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP across 52 2/3 innings of relief. He tallied just 36 punchouts but was able to limit hard contact as he generated a strong 6.7 percent barrel rate. However, he also generated a 4.08 xERA, which suggests that he may face some regression when he returns to the bump. Fantasy managers should expect Martinez to draw interest on waivers as a low-leverage relief option.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
