Seth Brown On The Bench Against Left-Hander
1 year agoOakland Athletics outfielder Seth Brown is on the bench to start Tuesday's matchup with left-hander Joe Jacques and the Boston Red Sox. The slugger struggles against southpaws (career .460 OPS), so it's a good time to give him a break. When Brown has played this season, he's struggled to the tune of a .194 average with nine homers and two steals over 52 contests. Tony Kemp will get a shot to start, playing left field and batting leadoff. The 31-year-old doesn't offer much with the bat, slashing .203/.287/.289 with three home runs, but he has swiped 10 bags across 75 games. Kemp also owns a .273 average this season off of lefties, so he's a decent waiver-wire play in deep leagues.
