Sergio Romo With Rough Outing In Earning 24th Save
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Sergio Romo took a pounding but held on for the save Wednesday versus the Yankees. Romo came in to record the final out of the top of the eighth inning to maintain a 4-3 lead. The Rays would then go out and score four runs in the bottom of the inning to seemingly put the game away. However, the Yankees came out swinging and would face having the potential go-ahead run on base. Romo would allow four runs before closing out the 8-7 victory. The save was his 24th to go with eight blown attempts. Romo has not been a shutdown option but 24 saves is still useful in many leagues.
