Sergio Romo With 17th Save Of The Season
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays closer Sergio Romo closed out another game for the Rays Tuesday versus the Royals. He did not get to the end smoothly as he allowed two baserunners which allowed the tying run to come to the plate but he survived. He now has 17 saves on the season. This comes a night after Jose Alvarado closed out a save leading to some wondering what it meant. Romo not only has saved 17 but he opened five games this season. Romo will continue to be worth owning in most leagues that reward saves as long as he retains his closing job. The biggest threat to his position will be if the Rays turn their attention to the future. If they choose to get a look at their future, young arms like Alvarado could take over the job.
