Sergio Romo Becomes A Free Agent
2 years agoVeteran reliever Sergio Romo has cleared waivers. He has chosen to refuse his outright assignment to Triple-A, electing for free agency instead. The 39-year-old was designated for assignment by the Toronto Blue Jays this past Saturday. The Jays were the second team to DFA him this year after his first club of 2022, the Seattle Mariners, DFA'd him in late June. It's been a rough year for the right-hander, who has pitched to a 7.50 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP across 18 innings.
