Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov coughed up four goals on 23 shots in Friday's 5-2 road loss against the Winnipeg Jets. After allowing two or fewer goals in each of his first eight appearances in the month of October, he has yielded 13 goals in three outings in November, all losses. Since flipping the calendar from October to November he is 0-3-0 with a 4.46 goals-against average in three outings, and he has lost five consecutive starts dating back to his last win Oct. 22 in Philadelphia. He still has a 2.38 GAA and .927 save percentage overall despite a 4-5-2 record. He remains a useful No. 2 backstop in most fantasy pools. He'll try to bounce back Sunday in Edmonton.--Daniel Dobish

New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov (lower body) has been ruled out indefinitely. He hasn't seen any action since Nov. 28 due to a lower-body injury, and apparently Varlamov isn't close to returning. The veteran netminder has posted a 3-4-3 record for 2024-25, allowing 2.89 goals with a .889 save percentage. The Islanders are also currently without Marcus Hogberg (upper body), meaning Jakub Skarek provides backup for Ilya Sorokin. Despite receiving an increased workload due to Varlamov's injury, Sorokin has heated up with five consecutive wins. He will look to extend his winning run on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Sorokin hasn't won six appearances in a row since March 2021.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov (lower body) has been labeled as day-to-day ahead of Thursday's contest against Seattle. The veteran netminder continues to nurse a lower-body injury. He was able to back up Ilya Sorokin on Tuesday versus Montreal but might have to exit the lineup on Thursday. The team has recalled Marcus Hogberg from the minors on an emergency basis. Sorokin is penciled in for his 17th start of the campaign Thursday. He's looking to improve a 6-6-4 record in a good matchup against a team that tends to struggle on the road and has gone 3-5-0 in its last eight games with 3.13 goals allowed.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov is expected to make a second consecutive start in Saturday's clash with the Dallas Stars. Regular starter Ilya Sorokin was limited in training camp while recovering from back surgery, giving Varlamov a chance to open the campaign as the Islanders' No.1. He had a hard time against Utah on Thursday, finishing a 5-4 overtime loss with 21 saves. However, the Islanders are going with Varlamov again on Saturday in a tough matchup. The Russian veteran has a strong 17-9-2 career record against Dallas. But he faces a team that went 26-11-4 on home ice last season and is considered a heavy favorite by the bookmakers for Saturday's game.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov posted his third shutout of the season with 41 saves in Saturday's 2-0 win over Nashville. The Russian veteran saw a lot of the puck but had a perfect game to improve to 11-6-4. Playing as Ilya Sorokin's backup, Varlamov has registered five wins across his last seven starts. His goals-against average for the season stands at 2.72, and Varlamov has posted a .916 save percentage. Sorokin has won each of his last two starts, so the Islanders goalies have heated up just at the right time. The team has climbed to third in the Metropolitan Division, with five games left to play.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
