Semyon Varlamov Rarely Tested In Road Victory
6 years agoColorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov coughed up three goals on just 20 shots in Monday's 6-3 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The netminder certainly wasn't sharp, but four different scorers provided all the offensive support he needed, including center Carl Soderberg's first-career hat trick. The game was actually tied until 11:45 of the third period, and then the team tacked on two empty-net goals, so it wasn't as lopsided as the score might indicate. It was his first victory dating back to Dec. 15 against the Dallas Stars, and first win on the road in 11 starts dating back to Dec. 2 in Detroit. He remains a risky proposition for fantasy owners and DFS participants.
