Sean Payton Says Russell Wilson "Still Has It"
1 year agoDenver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said quarterback Russell Wilson "still has it" and he wasn't the sole reason for Denver's struggles on offense last season. Payton criticized former Broncos head coach and current Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett for the team's inability to avoid pre-snap penalties and called the offensive line play "poor." It will be interesting to see if Payton's comments age well, but it's a positive sign to see a glaring review of Wilson early on in training camp. Wilson notably posted his worst season in the NFL last year, passing for 3,524 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 15 games. He went 4-11 in his starts -- marking just the second time he was below .500 in a single season. With the former Super Bowl Champion head coach running things in Denver, Wilson needs a bounce-back season to secure his future as an NFL starter.
