Sean Newcomb Picks Up His First Save Of The Season
6 years agoAtlanta Braves pitcher Sean Newcomb fired a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save during a 4-1 win over the San Francisco Giants. It was the first save opportunity of the year for the 25-year-old. Newcomb, who was demoted to Triple-A Gwinnett back in April, has not allowed a run yet in seven appearances out of the Braves' bullpen. Luke Jackson still factors into the ninth-inning duties, but if the Braves are not planning on putting Newcomb back into the rotation, it is wholly possible he earns his fair share of save opportunities. Fantasy managers can pick him up if they are desperate for saves, but it may be better to wait and see who earns the next opportunity.
