3 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Sean Manaea had a fantastic debut outing with the team on Friday. Facing the Arizona Diamondbacks, he went seven innings and allowed one walk, no hits and no runs while striking out seven. It was a nearly flawless outing for the 30-year-old, who was acquired in a trade with the Oakland Athletics less than a week ago. Manaea had a 3.91 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP over 32 starts with the A's last year. He made some major strides in the strikeout department last season, increasing his strikeout rate from 20.3% in 2020 to 25.7% last year. His next start is lined up for next Wednesday on the road against the San Francisco Giants.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
