4 years agoWashington Nationals left-handed pitcher Sean Doolittle will hit the injured list due to fatigue in his right knee with lefty prospect Seth Romero taking his roster spot ahead of Thursday’s contest against the Mets. Doolittle had opened 2020 in the closer’s role before losing that gig as he scuffled with five runs and three homers yielded in three innings. Romero is an exciting young arm that hasn’t pitched since undergoing Tommy John surgery in Aug. 2018, but was the club’s first-round pick in the ‘17 MLB Draft. Daniel Hudson will remain the club’s closer for the time being with Doolittle set to miss at least the next week.--Jesse Borek
