Left-handed reliever Sean Doolittle announced his retirement from professional baseball on his Twitter account on Friday. Doolittle didn't pitch at all in the majors in 2023 and made just six relief appearances in 2022 for the Washington Nationals due to elbow and knee injuries. He was originally a first-round pick (41st overall) by the Oakland Athletics in 2007 out of the University of Virginia, and he spent 11 years in the majors pitching for the A's, Washington Nationals, Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners. The 36-year-old southpaw made the All-Star team twice, first in 2014 with the A's and again in 2018 with the Nats. Doolittle finishes a fine career with a 3.20 ERA (2.94 FIP), 1.01 WHIP, 112 saves and 522 strikeouts in 450 2/3 relief innings.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
