Scott Oberg On Pace To Be Ready
4 years agoColorado Rockies relief pitcher Scott Oberg hasn't appeared in an intrasquad game yet in summer camp, but he's expected to do so soon. Oberg was one of the better relievers in baseball last year, going 6-1 with a 2.25 ERA with five saves and 58 strikeouts in 56 innings before undergoing surgery for blood clots in his right arm for the second time in his career. The right-hander had some soreness in his arm before his arrival to summer camp, so the Rockies decided to be cautious. It's always tough to trust relievers in Colorado, but Oberg is worth speculating on as a sleeper for saves after Wade Davis fell apart with an 8.65 ERA in 2019. If you take the chance on Davis, Oberg is a must-own handcuff.
