Scott McGough Returns From Paternity List
2 years agoArizona Diamondbacks reliever Scott McGough has been reinstated from the paternity list after missing one game to attend to the birth of his second child. Reliever Carlos Vargas was optioned to Triple-A to make room on the active roster. McGough, 33, made it all the way back to the big leagues this season after last appearing with the Marlins in the 2015 season. He's struggled to a 6.23 ERA and 15.8% BB% in six appearances while he's also blown a save and allowed three home runs in that time. The closer's role is undefined in the D-backs bullpen but it's safe to say McGough will need to start producing before he is worth considering for saves moving forward.
