Scott Kingery Accepting Fact He Will Start In Triple-A
7 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies infield prospect Scott Kingery is off to a great start this Spring Training, but it means little to nothing for his chances of landing on the big league roster come Opening Day. The 23-year-old is blocked at second base by Cesar Hernandez, and it simply benefits the Phillies to keep him in the minors a little longer, as it would extend their control over him until 2024. Last season in Double-A and Triple-A, he hit .304 with 26 home runs, 65 RBI, 29 doubles and 29 steals. After being a star in Spring Training last year, Kingery has repeated the performance again, already smacking two home runs this preseason. Regardless, the youngster himself has admitted he won't be in the majors and has made peace with that.
