Scott Barlow Takes Loss In Non-Save Situation Monday
3 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Scott Barlow was tagged with his first loss of the season in Monday's 5-3 extra-innings game against the White Sox. Barlow came on to pitch the top of the ninth inning with the game tied 3-3 and delivered a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout. He stayed on to pitch the 10th with a ghost runner on second. He got the first two outs on a groundout and a strikeout, but then gave up a two-run home run to Luis Robert and allowed a walk before being removed from the game. His final stat line was two runs allowed (one earned) on a hit and a walk with two strikeouts through 1 2/3 innings pitched. The good news is Barlow appears to be the Royals' most trusted bullpen arm and has four saves and two wins with a 1.56 ERA. The bad news is that the Royals may not have a ton of save opportunities and Barlow may pitch in close non-save opportunities. Either way, he still appears the bullpen arm to roster for fantasy managers.
