Scott Barlow Tagged With Another Blown Save On Thursday
3 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Scott Barlow has had two of his worst outings of the year on back-to-back days. In Wednesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds, he entered in the seventh inning with the Royals up 2-0 and he went on to allow three hits and two earned runs in the inning. He was tagged with both a blown save and a loss. In Thursday's game against the Cleveland Indians, he was called upon in the eighth inning while the Royals were up 3-1. He went on to give up a three-run home run to Roberto Perez, allowing a total of one hit, two walks and three earned runs in the inning. Again, he was charged with a blown save. Barlow was having a fantastic year before these last two outings. He entered Wednesday's action with a 1.99 ERA, but it has now inflated up to 2.95. He's been back to setup duty lately, which means Greg Holland is the likely favorite for save opportunities going forward.
