Sandy Alcantara Will Open In Marlins Rotation
6 years agoMiami Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara will be a part of the Marlins rotation, a surprising development given his struggles to find the plate this spring. He beat out Dan Straily for a spot despite walking 11 batters in 15 spring innings to go with 21 strikeouts. He still pumps a fastball in the upper 90s and was a top prospect before coming over to Miami from St. Louis in the Marcell Ozuna trade, so the upside is evident. Throwing in a great home park for pitchers, he makes a worthwhile waiver wire grab for anyone in quality starts leagues. Players in leagues that count wins, however, might be disappointed with a lackluster Marlins lineup backing him up.
