Sandy Alcantara Struggles In His First Game Back
4 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara (COVID-19) struggled in his first game back from the injured list. He pitched four innings, allowing eight runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out just two batters. Alcantara allowed two home runs in the first inning but was able to settle down a little bit after than, throwing scoreless innings in the second and third. He allowed two runs in the fourth, and then the wheels fully came off in the fifth, as the Marlins coughed up seven runs in the inning. Alcantara was lifted with the bases loaded, and the very first batter the Marlins bullpen faced hit a grand slam. Alcantara will be much better than this, but may go through some early-season growing pains even at mid-season since this was just his second start.
