Sandy Alcantara Showing No Rust This Spring
2 years agoMiami Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara is enjoying a hot start to his spring on the heels of earning the NL Cy Young Award in 2022. The right-hander has pitched in just two games spanning 4 2/3 innings but has yielded just one earned run on four hits and two walks in that time. His 1.29 WHIP and two strikeouts in that span don't stand out, but Alcantara remains stingy through 74 Grapefruit League pitches nonetheless. It was a marvelous 2022 campaign for the Marlins' ace as Alcantara hurled a 2.28 ERA with a 17.7% K-BB% ratio across 32 starts spanning an MLB-best 228 2/3 innings pitched. The Dominican Republic native also managed to go 14-9 on a Marlins club that finished just 69-93 a season ago. Despite a lukewarm career 21.9 K%, Alcantara is one of the game's elite fantasy arms entering the 2023 campaign.
