1 year agoMiami Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara is headed to the 15-day injured list with a right forearm flexor strain. The severity of the ailment is currently unknown but surgery to repair the injury would certainly cost the right-hander significant time into next season. The 2022 NL Cy Young winner took a step back this season, working to a 4.14 ERA across 28 starts while his 4.25 SIERA and diminished 13.5% K-BB% suggest he has indeed regressed from last season when he tossed a 2.28 ERA and 17.7% K-BB%. Considering Alcantara worked to a 3.42 SIERA in 2022, regression was quite inevitable this time around. More information should become available in the coming days but fantasy managers would be wise to prepare for the 27-year-old to be shut down for the remainder of the season.--Brenton Kemp
