4 months agoBaltimore Orioles catcher prospect Samuel Basallo has been slumping in July while playing with Double-A Bowie. Through 46 plate appearances, he's slashing .220/.304/.317 with a double, a home run, five RBI, and a 5:10 BB:SO. This is far below his production rate from April to June,  when he slashed .281/.339/.461 with 13 doubles, 11 home runs, 34 RBI, and a 22:58 BB:SO. Rough stretches are expected for young prospects, though, and there's no real reason to assume he won't bounce back. It's important to remember that Basallo is still a teenager (he'll turn 20 on Aug. 13). Despite his youth, he's expected to make his MLB debut at some point next year.--Wade Smith - RotoBaller
