Samaje Perine Ineffective Again On Thursday
5 years agoWashington Redskins running back Samaje Perine carried the ball five times for 13 yards in Thursday's preseason finale against the Ravens. This was about on par with what he had done all preseason, except teammate Byron Marshall took advantage of his own opportunities with 45 yards on eight carries. There wasn't much in the form of numbers that separated Perine and Marshall until Thursday night, but now Marshall clearly has had the best single-game performance of the summer, which might be all it takes to land him a roster spot and leave Perine as the odd man out. From a fantasy perspective, the one who is defeated in this competition could actually wind up with better fantasy value if a new team with a less crowded backfield takes him in. Even so, that's a pretty big "if."
