Sam Ryder A Player To Watch At The Mexican Open
1 day agoSam Ryder has flown somewhat under the radar to start the season with finishes of T21, T43, T25, and most recently a T36 at the Phoenix Open. He now looks ahead to the Mexican Open at Vidanta Vallarta, an event he has yet to compete in during his career. This course demands distance off the tee and strong play with long irons. Ryder has struggled off the tee, losing 9.117 strokes in his four events played. He ranks 97th in driving distance and 152nd in accuracy off the tee. However, he has compensated for his poor driving with strong approach play, gaining 9.685 strokes on approach. Ryder also ranks 20th on tour in proximity from 200-plus yards, which is significant given that 43.3% of all approach shots at this course last year came from this distance. Ryder will need to improve his driver performance to compete this week, but his irons are promising. Fantasy managers should consider Ryder at his $7,400 price tag on DraftKings.
