1 year agoWashington Commanders quarterback Sam Howell will make the start in the team's preseason opener on Friday against the Cleveland Browns, but it's unclear how much time the starters will get in that contest. It's not a surprise that Howell is getting the nod over veteran Jacoby Brissett, as Howell is the clear favorite to earn the starting gig under center in 2023. The 22-year-old has impressed the coaching staff with his play in the offseason and training camp and he has plenty of weapons in the passing game, but he made one start in his rookie season and will surely have his ups and downs in 2023.
