Sam Darnold Not Nearly As Crisp In Washington
6 years agoNew York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold started Thursday's preseason road game against the Washington Redskins and he played the entire first half. The rookie completed eight of his 11 pass attempts for 62 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. To be fair, his only miscue was on a tipped pass that probably should have been caught, but he wasn't as sharp as he was in his debut. He was also on his back frequently, as the patchwork offensive line didn't offer much resistance. In fact, he was 6-for-6 for 42 yards in the shotgun formation and just 2-for-5 for 20 yards and the pick while under center. There will be growing pains with the rookie, and the O-line play needs to get better. But it's looking apparent that this is going to be his team sooner rather than later, and fantasy owners in dynasty leagues should be tripping over themselves to nab him.
