Sam Coonrod and Freddy Galvis Set For Rehab Assignments
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitcher Sam Coonrod (elbow) and second baseman Freddy Galvis (quad) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday. Coonrod has been sidelined since June 25 with right forearm tendinitis. He was cleared to resume throwing and, barring a setback, could be activated next week. The 28-year-old owns a 4.18 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts over 27 appearances before being placed on the IL. As for Galvis, he was acquired in a trade with the Orioles and has been sidelined since late June with a strained right quad. The 31-year-old slashed .249/.306/.414 with nine home runs, 26 RBI, 36 runs scored, and one stolen base over 273 plate appearances in 2021.
