At a course that will favor length, accurate short irons and great bent-grass putters, Sam Burns has an advantage. His driver has been a little errant lately, but the rest of his game suits this course well and he is going relatively under-owned in his price range. Burns has won three times this season, with underwhelming driving performances coming before most of his wins. He has gained 19.3 strokes putting in his three wins. The four strokes he gained putting in the final round of his Charles Schwab win was on bent grass, with Wilmington Country Club offering his flat stick a similar opportunity again this week.--Byron Lindeque

This week, Sam Burns will make his first appearance at TPC Craig Ranch since 2022, when it was the AT&T Byron Nelson. Back in 2021, he finished runner-up at this venue to K.H. Lee. So far in 2025, Burns has played fairly decent with two top 20 finishes, including a T-8 at The Sentry, and has only missed three cuts. TPC Craig Ranch presents one of the least challenging venues on the PGA Tour with the eighth widest fairways and rough that doesn't necessarily penalize players for missing off the tee. One area where players have excelled and historically finished at the top is driving distance, where Burns ranks 55th with a 304.4 average driving distance. The LSU grad is an excellent play this week and should be considered in all formats. --Jake Walker - RotoBaller

Sam Burns missed four straight cuts and faltered at the Masters. The American golfer shot consecutive 75's over the weekend on what was perceived to be an easier layout. Almost every week, Burns has that round which makes any bettor, DFS player, or pundit scratch their head. Sunday looked to be going okay and then back-to-back double bogeys on 17 and 18 dropped Burns 14 places on the leaderboard. Errant shots and compounding errors have been the main culprits for the downturn. His putting has been incredible in 2025 ranking 4th with 0.839 strokes gained. However, approaches to the green have been equally putrid. Approaches greater than 200 yards are 148th at 56 feet 5 inches. Burns may struggle again once or twice this week which dampens his DFS outlook. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

Sam Burns has struggled as of late. He has failed to make the cut in his last three events, and hasn't had a top-25 finish since the Genesis Invitational. On top of that, his history at Augusta National is not great. In three starts, he has two missed cuts and a T-29 back in 2023. His play off the tee and approach has really hampered his game in 2025, which is essential at ANGC. His -0.005 strokes gained off the tee per round and -0.630 strokes gained on approach per round are below average on tour. In 2024, 32.2% of approach shots came from 200+ yards, a range where Burns has struggled with a 151st ranking on tour. It's best to look in another direction this week in DFS. --Jake Walker - RotoBaller

Sam Burns missed the cut at the Valspar Championship two weeks ago and is now focusing on preparing for this week's Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio. He last played in the Valero Texas Open in 2021, where he also missed the cut. Additionally, Burns has missed the cut in his last two tournaments. Over the past 12 months, he ranks in the 41st percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from over 200 yards in the fairway. This is noteworthy because over 28% of approach shots at last year's Valero Texas Open came from this distance. Considering his recent performance, including Burns in DFS lineups this week poses some risk.--Ian Christenson - RotoBaller
