Sam Burns Brings A Stellar Run Of Form Into TPC Sawgrass
8 months agoAfter an up-and-down 2023 campaign that saw him dip nine spots in the Official World Golf Rankings, Sam Burns has come flying out of the trap in the New Year. He recorded four straight top-ten finishes between California and Arizona during the Tour's West Coast Swing, and last week, returned to the state of Florida with a solid performance around Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill. Burns spent the entire week hanging around the top ten of Orlando's star-studded leaderboard before a final round 78 pushed him down to 30th in the final standings. This week, Burns arrives back at TPC Sawgrass, a venue where he entered the final round with a real chance to win two years ago (just one shot back of 54-leader Anirban Lahiri), and has produced many top results around a selection of Sawgrass's corollary courses (Colonial, Innisbrook, PGA West, TPC Scottsdale, etc.). He's played every bit like a man who's primed to return to his Top 10 ranking through 2.5 months of 2024, and Sawgrass will provide another ideal backdrop for him to keep that momentum going.
