1 year agoKansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (back, neck) was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Pittsburgh Pirates with upper-back/neck tightness. Freddy Fermin will now do the catching for the Royals and will bat sixth in the order against Pirates right-hander Andre Jackson. Until we know more about Perez's injury, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. The Royals have an off day coming on Thursday, so perhaps the veteran backstop will be able to return for the series opener on Friday against the visiting Boston Red Sox. It might be a good time for Perez to take some time off anyway, as he's gone 4-for-34 (.118) with no homers, two RBI, 12 strikeouts and two runs scored in his last nine starts since Aug. 20.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
