11 months agoCincinnati Reds third base prospect Sal Stewart went 2-5 at the plate on Friday with a home run to extend his hitting streak to seven games. Through 39 games with High-A Dayton this season, the 20-year-old has posted an impressive .296/.418/.452 with three long balls and four stolen bases. Stewart spent the majority of last summer with Single-A but did get an opportunity to play with High-A and posted a very similar .291/.397/.391 line through 29 games. The number seven prospect in the Cincinnati system looks very comfortable at High-A and should be able to at least get a taste of Double-A pitching at the end of the summer. This is a great sign for him as MLB Pipeline projects him to reach the major leagues in 2026, but the young third baseman looks to be on pace to smash that timeline.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

2 months agoAccording to C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic, the Cincinnati Reds are inviting third base prospects Cam Collier and Sal Stewart to spring training. Among these two infielders, top pitching prospect Chase Burns will also receive an invite. Collier is ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the system on MLB.com. Collier was selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. The Chipola College product spent the entire 2024 season at the High-A level and held his own as he posted a .248/.355/.443 line with 21 doubles and 20 home runs. He tallied 74 RBI and held a 66:127 BB:K ratio. Stewart is considered to be the No. 4 ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com. Stewart joined the Reds in the 2022 MLB Draft. Stewart also spent all of last season with High-A Dayton and posted a strong .279/.391/.454 line with 23 doubles, eight long balls, and 10 stolen bases. Fantasy managers should expect both infielders to open the season at Double-A.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

9 months agoCincinnati Reds third base prospect Sal Stewart has looked quite comfortable at High-A this season and could be nearing a promotion to Double-A. Since June 25, the 20-year-old has held an incredible .322/.452/.542 line with 12 RBI, four stolen bases, and a 13:16 BB:K ratio. Overall through 80 games at High-A this season, Stewart has posted a strong .279/.391/.454 line with eight home runs, 46 RBI, and 10 stolen bases. Last summer, Stewart logged 29 games at High-A and posted a similar .291 AVG. The Westminster Chester School product has yet to show any regression at High-A and has remained a steady producer. The third baseman should spend some time at Double-A later this summer, which could open the door for a potential major league debut in 2025.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
