Saints Bringing Back Chase Young On Three-Year Deal
1 min agoThe New Orleans Saints are re-signing defensive end Chase Young to a three-year, $51 million deal on Monday, a source tells NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Young will have a chance to earn as much as $57 million through incentives. It's a key move for a Saints defense that was pretty bad a year ago. The former second overall pick by the Washington Commanders in 2020 out of Ohio State has not lived up to his draft pedigree but showed some positive signs in 17 games (no starts) in New Orleans in 2024 when he had 31 tackles (21 solo), 5.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, a career-high 21 QB hits and a forced fumble. Young's sack total last year was just two off his previous career-high, which he set in his rookie year and again in 2023. He's still only 25 years old and could find himself in a bigger role if he continues to look good in 2025 and avoid injuries that set him back earlier in his career.
