Sahith Theegala is technically trying to find his game from 2024. The American golfer from Orange, California has felt snowed under in 2025. Though he has made nine cuts in 10 events, Theegala has not truly contended anywhere. At the Farmers Insurance Open, his 80 dashed a potential Top 10 result. It always seems to be one or two rounds that go wrong. 2025 lends a bright spot to his putting which ranks 50th in strokes gained at 0.248. After that, the numbers get progressively worse. Last year, Theegala was so much better off the tee. He ranked 28th at 0.350 strokes gained. It is essential to hit those first shots accurately. That has not happened for Theegala. That T-9 for him two years ago feels like a lifetime away given his 70.82 scoring average which is almost a full stroke worse than 2024.

Sahith Theegala finished T36 at the Valspar Championship, marking his fourth top-40 finish of the season, and he has now made the cut in eight of nine events. He now turns his focus to the Texas Children's Houston Open, an event he's played three times, with finishes of T28, T22, and T61 in previous appearances. This week, players will be tested in all aspects of their game, with particular emphasis on the short game. Although Theegala has lost strokes from tee to green (minus-0.206 per round), he has been much better around the greens, ranking 74th in strokes gained around the green (0.077) and 51st in putting (0.275). He also ranks in the 31st percentile for proximity from 150-200 yards this season, a distance that accounted for 38.1% of all approach shots here last year. Theegala has the firepower to compete at any event, but including him in lineups at his $8,000 price tag on DraftKings comes with some risk.

Sahith Theegala keeps trying to find consistency on the golf course in 2025. Other than one Top 20 result, the American golfer has struggled to keep his form in tact. Worse, the starts over the past month or so have been troubling. Even at The Players, Theegala started with a 73. He bounced back with a masterful 67 only to shoot 77-73 on the weekend. Theegala has not shot all four rounds in any tournament so far in 2025. Yes, that incudes The Sentry where he shot a shocking 76. Accuracy and consistency tend to go together. Theegala ranks 145th in driving accuracy and 149th in greens in regulation. With those issues and more, Theegala averages a 70.91 scoring-wise which is 147th on the PGA Tour. Theegala could be a nice DFS play if he can put a run of solid form together.

Sahith Theegala has struggled so far in 2025, recording just one result inside the top 35 in his seven starts this season. He now turns his attention to The PLAYERS Championship, an event he has played in three times, including a T9 finish here last year. To succeed at TPC Sawgrass, players need to excel from tee to green, with particular emphasis on accuracy off the tee and on approach. Theegala ranks 133rd in driving accuracy, 128th in strokes gained from tee to green (minus-0.249 per round), 116th off the tee (minus-0.079 per round), and 116th on approach (minus-0.120 per round). He also ranks in the 56th percentile over the last 12 months in proximity from 100-150 yards, a range that accounted for 32.3% of all approach shots at Sawgrass last year. Given his recent form, Theegala is a player that fantasy managers should avoid this week.
