Sahith Theegala Remains A Dangerous Name At The Sony Open
1 year agoSahith Theegala broke the hearts of many golf fans last Sunday, lipping out a 10-foot putt on the 72nd hole that would have pushed the Sentry into a sudden-death playoff. Despite another final-round heartbreak, it's difficult to ignore the upside Theegala brings on a weekly basis, as the 26-year-old Californian has recorded eight finishes of ninth or better within the last 14 months. On the surface, Waialae's positional layout presents some problems for Theegala's notoriously erratic driver, but he's proven many times before that he can hang on golf courses and in fields that seem far over his head. It's hard to argue against Theegala's upside at any venue we visit going forward. Golf fans should be very excited about the trajectory of this bright young star.

Sahith Theegala Seeking Elusive Consistency In Florida
3 weeks agoSahith Theegala keeps trying to find consistency on the golf course in 2025. Other than one Top 20 result, the American golfer has struggled to keep his form in tact. Worse, the starts over the past month or so have been troubling. Even at The Players, Theegala started with a 73. He bounced back with a masterful 67 only to shoot 77-73 on the weekend. Theegala has not shot all four rounds in any tournament so far in 2025. Yes, that incudes The Sentry where he shot a shocking 76. Accuracy and consistency tend to go together. Theegala ranks 145th in driving accuracy and 149th in greens in regulation. With those issues and more, Theegala averages a 70.91 scoring-wise which is 147th on the PGA Tour. Theegala could be a nice DFS play if he can put a run of solid form together.

Sahith Theegala Out Of Form Ahead Of The PLAYERS Championship
3 weeks agoSahith Theegala has struggled so far in 2025, recording just one result inside the top 35 in his seven starts this season. He now turns his attention to The PLAYERS Championship, an event he has played in three times, including a T9 finish here last year. To succeed at TPC Sawgrass, players need to excel from tee to green, with particular emphasis on accuracy off the tee and on approach. Theegala ranks 133rd in driving accuracy, 128th in strokes gained from tee to green (minus-0.249 per round), 116th off the tee (minus-0.079 per round), and 116th on approach (minus-0.120 per round). He also ranks in the 56th percentile over the last 12 months in proximity from 100-150 yards, a range that accounted for 32.3% of all approach shots at Sawgrass last year. Given his recent form, Theegala is a player that fantasy managers should avoid this week.

Sahith Theegala Looking To Keep Spark From Last Event Alive At Bay Hill
1 month agoAfter a poor start to the season, it was good to see Sahith Theegala finish T17 at the Genesis Invitational a few weeks ago. He's made every cut over his six starts, but his last outing was the first time DFS players were actually happy to have him in their lineups. The putter seems like the lone bright spot that could be in a position to help him have consistent finishes. He's gained over four and five shots on the greens in two of his last three starts, but the rest of his game hasn't been as fruitful. His work with the driver has helped him tremendously over his three career appearances at Bay Hill, with an average of +0.683 in strokes gained off the tee. However, having lost strokes in that metric in three of his last four starts doesn't do anything to reinforce confidence there. Hopefully, his last outing was a sign of things to come, but it's still too early to tell.

Sahith Theegala Is Riding The Struggle Bus To Torrey Pines
2 months agoThings have not started as high as many hoped for Sahith Theegala in 2025. While he isn't playing badly enough to miss cuts, the Pepperdine product hasn't cracked the top 35 in any of his five starts this season. What's more frustrating is that none of the struggles can be blamed on one part of his game. He has lost strokes in two of five events from on approach and off the tee, and three of five from on and around the green, which has amounted to -0.098 total strokes gained on the season (ranked 101st on PGA Tour). At a place as demanding as the South Course, taking Theegala at $9,300 on FanDuel is fool's gold.
