6 years agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Ryne Stanek will be the opener Saturday versus the Yankees. In terms of who the Rays are expected to turn to for the role of eating up the bulk of the innings, the leading candidate for Saturday is Ryan Yarbrough. Stanek's fantasy value is limited anyway, but starting limits it even further. He is very unlikely to pitch deep enough to be eligible for a win or a quality start. Starting also means he cannot even get a hold or a save. Stanek has next to no fantasy relevance except for in the deepest of AL-only leagues. Yarbrough fantasy value is interesting, depending on whether he will become a starter or spend more time as the follow-up who eats innings. Arguably, his value might be a little higher as the follow-up pitcher in games.--Jamie Mellor
