Ryan Weathers Throws On Flat Ground
3 months agoMiami Marlins left-hander Ryan Weathers (finger) threw on flat ground on Monday in front of the training staff before the contest against the visiting Cincinnati Reds. Weathers is currently on the 60-day injured list with a left index-finger strain but is hoping to throw bullpen sessions in two weeks before going on a minor-league rehab assignment. Because of the fact that the 24-year-old southpaw has been on the IL since June 8, he's going to need at least several rehab starts before rejoining Miami's starting rotation for the final month of the season in September. Weathers had an encouraging start in his first full season with the Fish, posting a 3.55 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with a 22.5 percent strikeout rate and 6.7 percent walk rate in 13 starts. Unfortunately, fantasy managers aren't going to get much out of him the rest of 2024.
