Ryan Weathers Has Much To Improve Next Season
3 years agoSan Diego Padres pitcher Ryan Weathers coughed up five earned runs over three innings Wednesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Making his first start since August, the swingman permitted five hits and three walks while fanning two. After a strong start to his rookie campaign, the league caught up to Weathers' subpar stuff as he posted an ugly 9.25 ERA after the All-Star break, ultimately losing his starting gig. Unless he's pressed into duty this weekend, the southpaw will finish the season with a 5.32 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 18 percent strikeout rate over 94 ⅔ innings (30 appearances, 18 starts). Still only 21, Weathers will need to improve his arsenal if he wants to stick to a big league rotation. He won't be a fantasy option in redraft formats heading into the offseason.
