San Diego Padres pitcher Ryan Weathers tossed three innings of relief Monday against the Colorado Rockies, allowing one earned run on three hits. Weathers earned five consecutive starts prior to this appearance as the Friars moved to a temporary six-man rotation, but reverted to swingman as starter Dinelson Lamet completed just four frames. The 21-year-old southpaw has remained impressive through 47 ⅓ innings (eight starts), possessing a 2.47 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 19 percent strikeout rate despite subpar statcast outcomes. It's probable Weathers will operate in a hybrid role for the foreseeable future, diminishing his fantasy predictability. Outside of multiyear formats, Weathers holds marginal value only in deeper and NL-only leagues.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller

The Miami Marlins announced on Wednesday that they reinstated left-hander Ryan Weathers (forearm) from the 15-day injured list and optioned left-hander Anthony Veneziano to Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move. Weathers will be making his first start of 2025 on Wednesday versus Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The 25-year-old southpaw will be quite risky in starting fantasy lineups in his first start of the year against a Cubs offense that ranks fourth in all of baseball with a .768 OPS, but Weathers should be plucked off the waiver wire in any formats where he's still available. He had a sharp 1.69 ERA in 10 2/3 minor-league rehab innings, but he only threw 57 pitches during his final rehab start and will probably be on a short leash on Wednesday. Injuries have held Weathers back early in his career, but he looked good in 2024 with career-best strikeout and walk rates.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Miami Marlins left-hander Ryan Weathers (forearm) looked good in his third minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, throwing five shutout innings with two hits allowed, no walks and three strikeouts to pick up the win. The 25-year-old southpaw averaged 97.8 mph with his fastball and could potentially be activated from the injured list and make his 2025 season debut for the Marlins next Tuesday in a tough matchup against the Chicago Cubs. The former first-rounder of the San Diego Padres in 2018 has made three rehab starts (two with Jacksonville) and has only allowed two earned runs on four hits while walking four and striking out 13 in 10 2/3 innings pitched. Weathers only got up to 57 pitches in his efficient outing on Thursday, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him make one more start in the minors. He deserves to be picked up off the waiver wire now in fantasy leagues if he's available.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Miami Marlins left-handed pitcher Ryan Weathers (forearm) is set to throw a pitch design on Tuesday. Weathers has been sidelined since March due to a forearm strain. He was placed on the 15-day injured list on March 27. However, he quickly began a throwing progression and was able to make his first minor-league rehab start on April 28. In his first rehab outing with Low-A Jupiter, Weathers was sharp and tossed three no-hit innings. He struck out six batters. However, in his second outing, he was moved up to Triple-A but took a step back and allowed two runs across 2 2/3 innings of work. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status, as he could be cleared to make his 2025 season debut sometime next week. When he does get cleared to return, he would be worth adding in all standard formats after posting a 3.63 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP across 86 2/3 innings last summer.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Miami Marlins left-hander Ryan Weathers (forearm) had a successful first minor-league rehab start on Sunday at Single-A Jupiter, tossing three scoreless and hitless innings with no walks and six strikeouts. Weathers looked good in his first rehab outing and will now likely be moved up to Double-A or Triple-A for his next rehab start. The 25-year-old southpaw has been on the 15-day injured list since the 2025 regular season started, but he might need only one or two more rehab outings before the Marlins look to activate him and return him to their starting rotation. Fantasy managers in mixed leagues should think about scooping Weathers up if he's available on your waiver wire. He has breakout potential if he can stay healthy after going 5-6 with a 3.63 ERA (4.11 FIP) and 1.18 WHIP with 80 strikeouts and 24 walks in 16 starts covering 86 2/3 innings pitched.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
