Ryan Weathers Collects Three-Inning Save
4 years agoSan Diego Padres reliever Ryan Weathers fired three frames of one-hit ball to gather his first career save Saturday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 21-year-old combined with starter Joe Musgrove in a four-hit shutout, requiring 38 pitches to fan three and slam the door. With injuries to key bullpen pieces and starter Dinelson Lamet (biceps), Weathers was a surprise addition to the Opening Day roster, and he showed his versatility in the outing. While his time on the team may be limited, the Friars No. 5 prospect has looked extremely comfortable in limited action. Weathers holds minimal redraft value but his dynasty stock is pointing up.
