1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Ryan Thompson picked up his first career playoff win in the 4-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 7 of the National League Championship Series on Tuesday night. Thompson entered in the fifth inning to face left-handed slugger Kyle Schwarber and eventually went 1 1/3 perfect innings to pick up the win and help send the Diamondbacks to their first World Series appearance since 2001. The 31-year-old right-hander isn't a big strikeout guy but relies on soft contact on the ground to succeed. So far in this year's postseason, Thompson has allowed three earned runs on 10 hits while walking three and striking out eight in 10 2/3 innings out of Arizona's bullpen.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
