Ryan Noda Out With Stomach Illness
1 year agoOakland Athletics rookie first baseman Ryan Noda (illness) is out of Thursday's starting lineup against the Detroit Tigers due to a stomach illness. Manager Mark Kotsay said Noda might be available to come off the bench to pinch hit. Fantasy managers should consider Noda to be day-to-day for now. The 27-year-old first-year MLB player is hitting just .230 (57-for-248) in his first 82 major-league games, but he also has nine home runs and a league-leading 58 walks for a very useful .383 on-base percentage. Noda has a hit in each of the four games to begin the month of July, including his ninth long ball of the season in Wednesday's 12-3 win over the Tigers. Aledmys Diaz is covering first base on Thursday and is hitting seventh against Tigers right-hander Michael Lorenzen.
