Ryan McMahon's Hot Spring Earns Him Starting Job?
6 years agoColorado Rockies infielder Ryan McMahon has been one of the many Rockies prospects that has languished while veterans continued to hold them down, but the departure of DJ LeMahieu opened the door for him this spring. McMahon took full advantage. Posting a ridiculous 1.266 OPS while drilling three home runs and batting .439, McMahon took hold of the starting gig and didn't let go. He's now tagged as the starting second baseman entering the season, and even though fellow prospect Garrett Hampson will remain hot on his heels on the bench, expect McMahon to get some extended play to see if he can bring that fire to the regular season. The 24-year-old could be a surprise top-10 finisher amongst second basemen this season.
