Ryan Kreidler Makes Opening Day Roster
3 days agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Ryan Kreidler has made the team's Opening Day roster, sources tell the Detroit Free Press' Evan Petzold. Kreidler beat out Justyn-Henry Malloy for one of the final roster spots, and he could see some playing time early on in 2025 with both Parker Meadows (arm) and Wenceel Perez (back) on the injured list to start the season. The 27-year-old was initially optioned to Triple-A Toledo but will now rejoin the big-league squad because of injuries to both Meadows and Perez. The right-handed hitter bounced between the majors and minors again in 2024 and went 7-for-59 (.119) with a homer, two RBI, five stolen bases and 19 strikeouts in 35 games over 65 plate appearances. Kreidler didn't fare much better at Toledo, leaving little hope that he'll suddenly catch fire for those in AL-only formats early on this year. His greatest asset to the Tigers is his ability to basically play all over the diamond.
