Ryan Helsley Earns Sixth Save Of Season Tuesday
1 year agoIt wasn't smooth, but St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Ryan Helsley picked up his sixth save of the season in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Reds. Helsley entered the game to pitch the ninth inning up by three. He got the first two outs on a strikeout and groundout but then allowed a single and back-to-back walks before getting the final out on another groundout. Giovanny Gallegos, who has also seen save opportunities this season, pitched the eighth. Helsley has not been as good as he was last season but has now converted six of nine save opportunities with a 3.00 ERA and 12.00 K/9 rate. It appears that he has the edge over Gallegos for now, but both hold fantasy value.
